Course content:

This course is specifically designed to take your dressmaking skills to a more confident & professional level. During the 5 weeks you will build your folder of samples with self written instructions- this will become your sewing reference guide (or sewing bible) for future sewing projects & can be built upon for months/years to come.

Throughout the course we will cover; laying out pattern pieces, grainline, bias of fabric, pattern markings, transferring pattern markings & notches, seams, hems, darts, a range of different pocket types, understitching buttonhole & inserting a fly zip.

We suggest that you put into practice your newly acquired skills by making Tilly & The Buttons Thea Trousers along side the course, this may be at home or during social sewing sessions. Create trousers which focus on fit; Wide leg trousers with choice of full-length or cropped hem, High waisted, shaped with a curved waistband and back darts.

As the fit of trousers is very personal from person to person we advise that you make a toile(s) along side the technical samples the classes focus on before cutting out your ‘proper’ fabric. This could be from an old bedsheet or calico etc- adjustment & advise on fitting of your toile may have to be done during a social sewing session if time doesn’t allow in class.
