Dressmaking fabric (stretch)

Our selection of high quality knit dressmaking fabrics complement our sewing workshops, boasting a range of T-shirt weight jersey, ponte roma & scuba fabrics. All knit fabrics have a varying amount of stretch, the heavier fabrics are more stable & preferable for more structured garments like hoodies & joggers whereas the lighter fabrics have a naturally beautiful drape for tops & dresses. These fabrics require a ‘ballpoint’ or 'stretch' machine needles & will require with a twin needle for hemming. The weight of the fabric is listed on each product as ‘GSM’ the higher this number the more structure the fabric has- this will determine the pattern/garment you make.

Fabric is sold in quarter, half and 1 metre units, to purchase bigger pieces add desired quantities to basket & fabric will be sent in one continuous piece, ie; 1 metre, 1 half metre & 1 quarter metre would be sent as a 1.75m continuous piece.
